Notes for week of 13 April

We have a mandatory full cast rehearsal this coming Saturday, April 19th - a detailed schedule is provided below.

Details for the Blocking Rehearsal and Performances are available below.

Tokens of Appreciation for Dance Partners

Ballet tradition holds that dancers give small (inexpensive) gifts of appreciation to their partners prior to the first performance. Its a "thank you" for, and/or a remembrance of,  time spent rehearsing and performing together.

Weekly Rehearsal Schedule

We try and work out rehearsal schedules to minimize conflicts with other activities. Please let us know what hours your dancer is available to rehearse. A detailed schedule for Beatrix Potter rehearsals will be posted at the studio and our website by February 9th with rehearsals starting the week of February 11th. Dancers that do not attend classes and rehearsals regularly or miss one of the important dates below will be dismissed and all fees forfeited.

These instructions are intended to for the safety of our students and ensure that they are looking and performing their best for the Festival of Fun. Please read, comprehend and comply with the instructions herein. If you have doubts, questions or objections – please talk to Miss Laura well in advance of the performance – the day will be hectic enough without having to negotiate or re-iterate these instructions.

THE NIGHT BEFORE

  • Get plenty of rest the night before each performance. Avoid parties with lots of junk food and chaos the evening prior to the performance.

BEFORE LEAVING HOME

  • Feed you dancer a well balanced healthy breakfast with lots of clear liquids. Protein and complex carbohydrates are the best. As a rule, do not eat candy or drink soda before or in between performances. Bring a healthy snack – NO JUNK FOOD! Stay away from the citrus fruits or drinks as they can turn butterflies into a full blown upset tummy.

  • Bring a book, headset w/ music, cards or hand game if child becomes bored between shows.

  • Dancers should be in tights and nude camisole leotards under appropriate cover-up with stage hair and make-up done before leaving home. The cover-up should look nice, be appropriate for the weather and for being seen in public - We want to look like a real ballet company!

  • Pack water bottles for drinks between shows. Nothing but water will be allowed back stage to drink. Bring your own food or snacks for your dancer for after the performance and have checked in their costume - we will provide red licorice for a snacks during the performance (it won’t stain costumes) -

  • PLEASE LEAVE HOME WITH PLENTY OF TIME TO SPARE – TRAFFIC WITHOUT THE BRIDGE AND PARKING ARE LIKELY TO BE CRAZY!

ARRIVAL

  • Dancers should use the bathroom after arrival and prior to getting into their costume.

  • Report to your dancer’s assigned dressing room – PLEASE BE PUNCTUAL – your dancer will be signed in when the wardrobe mistresses are ready to help them don costumes - Dancers must be supervised by an adult prior to being signed in at the dressing rooms.

  • Dancers will not be allowed to leave between shows and will probably remain in costume (squirrels may get out of costume depending on the weather)

  • Only water is allowed back stage – we will provide red licorice to snack on.

  • Squirrels will be out of costume as long as possible if it is a hot day and the wardrobe tents get too warm. Fans and cool packs will be available to help keep dancers cool.

DURING

  • Dancers never leave the dressing room in tights & nude camisole leotard – they must be in their cover-up or a costume.

  • Dancers must get out of costume and into their cover-up if they must leave the back stage area (this should not be an issue with only 30 minutes between shows)

  • Ballet shoes must be wiped clean with a damp cloth prior to performance and must be covered at all times when off the stage. NBB will provide socks.

  • Parents and dancers must abide by decisions made by Miss Laura, Miss Gina, Miss Sandra, Miss Brianna K and Mr. Bob
