2011/12 School Year

Registration & Tuition

  1. The non-refundable Registration Fee, signed Liability and Image Release and Studio Policies must accompany the registration form to have your space reserved.
  2. Tuition is due the 7th of the month. A $15.00 per month late fee will be assessed on accounts that have a balance due on the 8th of the month.
  3. All fees payable in advance, before the first class may be taken. First payment due upon registration.
  4. All returned checks will be assessed $25.00.
  5. Tuition is paid in nine equal monthly payments September thru May plus a half month payment due in August. Tuition is paid monthly but there are not necessarily an equal number of classes per month.
  6. Tuition will not be adjusted due to missed classes – these can be made up in an age appropriate class – please contact Miss Laura to schedule a make-up class. Days that NBB is closed (holidays, etc) are considered “missed classes” that will not change you tuition, but can be made up.  
  7. Please place your child’s name in the memo section of your check. Checks should be made payable to New Bern Ballet, Inc. If you pay in cash, please give it to a staff member and you must get a receipt.
  8. You may pay in advance; you will receive a discount of 5% if the semester is paid in full or a 10% discount if the school year is paid in full.
  9. NBB assumes that enrollment will continue for the entire term. There must be 30 day written notice before your child quits their dance class. You are responsible for tuition up to your child’s last day. Nonattendance does not constitute withdrawal. You are responsible for the payment of tuition until notification of withdrawal is submitted in writing.
  10. Classes will less than 6 regularly attending students may be removed from NBB's schedule at any time. Students will be accepted into other existing classes that are age/ability appropriate for the student.

Class Placement & Attendance

  1. The instructor has the final say as to what class(es)/camp(s) your child is placed in.
  2. All classes are closed session. Do not open the door during class time. When classes are over, the instructor will open the door.

Drop-off & Pick-up

  1. Please walk your student in or make sure they have gone inside before leaving.
  2. Students should not be dropped off earlier than 10 minutes prior to class or stay longer that 5 minutes afterwards. They should remain inside until their ride arrives. There is an additional $20/child/hour charge for students left past 15 minutes of their class. .

Behavior and Appearance

  1. Parents and dancers will be respectful to the staff and others at all times.
  2. Ballet attire and shoes will conform to NBB's Dress Code. Ballet shoes are to be only worn in the studio.
  3. The only visible piercings allowed on our dancers are in the ear lobs of girls. If there are any other piercings, please have these removed prior to entering the building. Absolutely no tattoos are allowed – no exceptions!
  4. Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated by students in class or families in the waiting area. If this occurs repeatedly, parents will be contacted. Consequences for repeated disruptive behavior range from the student being dismissed from class to the family being expelled from the school.
  5. Student cell phones must be turned off during class, unless family situations dictate otherwise.
  6. Disruptive behavior of parents and siblings in the waiting area will not be tolerated. If this occurs repeatedly, parents will be contacted and if it continues, your child will be dismissed from class.

Miscellaneous

  1. New Bern Ballet, Inc., does not carry medical insurance for its students. It is required that all dance students be covered by their own family insurance and if injury occurs, it is understood that the student’s policy is the only source of reimbursement.
  2. No gum, food or drinks allowed in NBB facilities by parents, dancers, siblings or friends. A $15.00 custodial fee will be assessed to those that bring food or drink into NBB facilities without the express consent of NBB.
  3. Do not call any staff member at home without prior permission.
  4. NBB generally follows the Craven County School District (CCSD) holiday and Spring Break schedule. If Friday is a CCSD Holiday, then NBB will be closed Saturday also. Check the school newsletter for exact schedule details.
  5. NBB adheres to the CCSD weather related closings.
  6. In order to keep our Christmas Party and Spring Showcase affordable, families that choose to attend these events are expected to volunteer to help with the event – sign ups will be posted. A fee will be charged to cover the cost of decorations, props, costumes, rentals, etc.
  7. NBB reserves all Copyrights for all choreography taught by NBB, whether in class, camps or for performances. NBB choreography shall not be used and/or displayed outside of NBB without the express written consent of Miss Laura.
